Yes I went to Oahu the beginning of May and I am just starting to post some proof. I am not all the way through the pics yet either. Where does the time go?!!
My husband and I had a wonderful trip without the kids. It was so quiet. I will admit that a few times I did miss the word "mom". I quickly got over it though.

Look at this beautiful young woman. Be careful though because she is only 15. I warned her mom that the boys are going to be knocking down her door.

Miss K is getting into modeling and needed some shots for her portfolio. She is very photogenic. I don't think she'll have a hard time getting jobs, especially not with those stunning blue eyes. She brought a few different shirts to the shoot but when we got to the blue one I forbid her from changing it. That blue shirt does a number to her eyes don't you think?

Thanks to my great friend Melissa, my family was able to get together and have some family pictures taken. She did an excellent job getting all of us put together. Good thing she had that great Buzz Lightyear toy to help gain the attention of both the kids and the adults.

After Melissa took the pictures I was the one who edited them. I think Melissa and I make a great team.

Tiny Little Baby

This guy was so cute and little. At only 10 days old he was still smaller than my son who was born premature at 36 weeks. I make them big though!!
Mom was great and brought some fun props to the shoot. She had a hat and blanket that was used by her father when he was a newborn. It was a lot of fun to get a picture of him in something so special!!

This one may be my favorite. I LOVE mad baby pictures. I also love his hat. It compliments his expression!! :)

Isn't this baby beautiful. She looks just like her mother and is just as sweet. Once this little one had a full belly we could get her into whatever position we wanted and she didn't even care. There were times I was sure we were going to wake her up. Nope, she slept right through it.

Every member of this family could seriously be a model. It was so easy to photograph them. They are all so photogenic.
Mom and I are friends from a few years back and it was sooo good to see her again. I miss having her around and listening to her good stories. She is all grown up and a mother of two now. I can hardly believe it. I am glad she is so happy!!!!

Lots and Lots of Mosquito Bites

I am so glad this family was such good sports. We were being eaten alive and yet they were so happy and cheery. In the end I came home with 8 mosquito bites after only an hour and a half session. I think half the time we were trying to shoo the bugs off each other.
In the end I think we got some fun shots.

Tessa is leaving on an LDS mission to Chile in less than 3 days. She will be an excellent missionary. She is always happy and has such a contagious smile. Good luck!!! It will be one of the best times of your life.

Summer and Derek

This was the most fun I have ever had at a wedding (probably mine included!!). Summer and Derek really know how to party. It really was a celebration of their marriage and new life together as husband and wife. They had so much fun dancing and I had this incredible urge to join them (and I hate dancing). There was an energy the whole day.

A friend of mine asked me to take some photos of her new product, Tree Hugger Granola. She is putting together a website and needed some product shots. The granola is all organic and very good for you. It also tastes delicious!!! I promise you will have a hard time putting it down.

For my birthday in December my husband bought me a backdrop stand. I begged and pleaded for one after having just shot a newborn and I had a hard time trying to find a nice background for a picture in a little house. Well my picture a day inspired me to pull it out for the first time. I hadn't even set it up before last week. I thought I should give it a try after all that begging.
I started by walking around the house and trying to find anything interesting to shoot. I came up with a book I just finished (and loved), an oil and vinegar dispenser I bought in Portugal, and a statue of the St. George LDS temple (one of my prized possesions). Below is the fun I had.

I had such a fun time playing with my stand. I am excited to use it more and experiment with different backgrounds. Here is a pull back shot from the day.

These little girls are so cute. Their first comment was "I hate having my picture taken." By the end they kept begging me to take more pictures of them. We had a lot of fun and got some great pictures too.

Senior Shoot

A bunch of local photographers got together for a little photoshoot. One of the photographers asked some of her neighbors to come and let us take pictures of them. In return they get a picture from each of the photographers and a free lunch.
It was great to meet other local photographers and bounce ideas off each other. I learned a lot of new things and made some new friends.
Anyway, here is what I came home with.

LIFE

I love this picture I caught of my husband. I like how you can read "LIFE" and then see my husband in the background with his head in his hands. He looks so stressed and distraught. I think it is a good depiction of how a lot of people feel about "LIFE" right now. There are many without jobs and homes. Many people are also losing money and family members. Life gets stressful!! There are many times I feel like taking a big sigh and doing the same thing over some of the day to day challenges too.

ISO 4000

I love my new camera. It is great!!! I love the high ISO (light sensitivity). I just had to post this picture of my nephew. I took it in my parents dark living room with the ISO setting all the way up to 4000. My D80 only went up to an ISO of 1600. Ya this pic has some noise but it is the same amount of noise I would get at ISO 600 on my last camera.
Anyway, here is the shot. I hope I haven't confused too many of you with my camera talk.

The Best Husband Ever!!

I think I have the best husband. He surprised me and bought me this.....

YAY!!!! I was so shocked. He took me to Memory Grove and made me carry around a backpack full of who knows what. We sat down, I closed my eyes, and he told me to give him the backpack and put my hands out. When I opened my eyes I cried. Yes it's true, I cried. My husband has never surprised me before. I love surprises and this one takes the cake. I am so excited to use it.
Later that day we went for a drive and I took a few pictures. I love this camera!! I got some fun shots in low light which is what I have been dreaming of.

Since I have a new camera I am looking to sell my D80 with the 2 kit lenses it came with. I am asking $600. Let me know if anyone is interested.

UPDATE: My picture a day is not going too well. I do great when I don't have to work at my other job but after 12 hours all I want to do is see my kids and go to sleep. I am not giving up though!! I am having fun when I actually have more than 3 hours in a day to complete it.

Day 2

So far I am 100% on my picture a day for a year. Last night though I almost forgot. I was in bed and remembered so I had to get up and quickly take a picture.

The other day someone asked me to do some product pictures for them. I have never done pictures of things that don't run around and make you chase them. I am excited for the experience. Talking with her inspired me to experiment a little at home. I thought this would be a great way to continue my picture a day goal.

I started looking around my house and found this bowl of apples. I had a lot of fun experimenting. I also learned a lot as I moved the bowl around, tried different lighting, and searched for the right angle. Day 2 of my quest and I am already learning new things!! This will be fun.

A Photo Every Day for a Year

I have found myself a new challenge. I have been studying up about photography and reading a lot about other photographers. The consistent advice they all give is to take a picture every day. They all say it helps you to learn and grow. It allows you to find your style and niche in photography.
I think that is an excellent idea. What better way to learn, grow, and document my life and journey. It also sounds fun and challenging. I always love a good challenge, something to help me stretch my brain a little bit.
I have decided to start the first day of March. It is just around the corner. I am mostly writing this on here so I am committed to doing it. I am hoping the excitement doesn't die after the first month.
Here I go. Wish me luck and lots and lots of learning!!!

Little Jaxson was such a good baby. As long as he was warm he was happy. Gotta love space heaters. He was so little and handsome.
We got some great shots of Jaxson on his dad's saddle. I love having personal props in the pictures. It makes them so much more special. Plus it will always be something his mom and dad can look at and remember how small Jaxson once was.

It turned out to be a beautiful day and this cute family enjoyed every minute of it. They had so much fun together.
I was able to take pictures at this fun family's house. That is my favorite thing to do. Everyone is so much more relaxed and "at home". The kids had a lot of fun on their swingset and toys out in the backyard. It makes my job as a photographer so easy. You get such great, genuine reactions from the kids. I love it!!

My friends officially got married in front of family and friends. They had their backyard all decked out for the ceremony but mother nature had other plans. They ended up moving the festivities into their house. It was a wonderful ceremony with a lot of laughs from all there. The officiator/friend had us all laughing. It was a great time.

Our shoot was almost ruined by rain but ended up being great. We camped out in a little building, sang a little Barney "I love You", and even jumped in the puddles. We had a lot of fun!!

This has to have been the most fun I have had on a shoot. Between the three of us we were laughing the entire time. Tami is always fun to be around. Cliff is a lucky guy!!

And now my absolute favorite picture. It was a little tough to get a straight face from Tami. Cliff didn't help either!! I actually thought this shot wouldn't turn out. Now it is my favorite of the day. I love the rough look from Cliff. He makes a great cowboy/farmer. This is the first time I have ever seen Tami without her great smile. Aren't they a cute couple!!
